Calls for Expressions of Interest for the Role of BCIS President

Dear BCIS Members,

On behalf of BCIS Council I would like to invite applications for the position of BCIS President.

Professor David Hildick-Smith will complete his term as President at the Advanced Cardiovascular Intervention meeting in January 2026. There will be a lead-in period for the President-Elect whose term will run for three years, until January 2029.

The President will play a pivotal role in the Society and the successful candidate will guide its direction over their three years in office.

Any past or current BCIS Council member is eligible to apply.

The electorate will be all BCIS members.

The attached job description gives more comprehensive details of the responsibilities of the post. If you wish to apply please submit your application via the link at the bottom of this page. Your application should include a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4, describing relevant experience and expertise, and plans if appointed.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 22nd September 2025.

Application for BCIS CSG Lead

On behalf of BCIS Council, I would like to invite applications for the position of BCIS Clinical Standards Group Lead. This is an important role, with responsibility for all aspects of clinical guidance for members, the BCIS peer review programme and specialist input to other national bodies such as NICE.

This position is vacant from July 2025, when the current incumbent Dr Helen Routledge completes her term. A short run-in period will allow the successful candidate to familiarise themselves with the role. The term of office is 3 years.

Any BCIS member with relevant expertise including current or previous Council Member are eligible to apply. The electorate will be all Ordinary Members of the society, including current and previous Council Members. The job description linked below gives more comprehensive details of the responsibilities of this post.

Anyone wishing to apply please submit your application via the form below, including a supporting statement describing relevant experience and expertise and plans if appointed. The supporting statement sound be no more than one page of A4. The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 4 April.

The post-holder will work closely with the President and Honorary Secretary and will be an ex-Officio member of all the BCIS subgroups. As one of the three officers of BCIS, the successful applicant will be integral to the workings and major decisions that are taken on behalf of the Society.

The position becomes vacant from January 2025 when the current incumbent Dr Dan McKenzie completes his term. There will be a short run-in period to allow the successful candidate to familiarise themselves with the role.
