Public Information

Information for patients and industry colleagues on heart conditions that can be managed through interventional cardiology procedures, as well as access to publicly available BCIS reports.

About coronary heart disease

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common cause of death and disability in the United Kingdom. It causes around 94,000 deaths in the UK each year and around one in five men and one in seven women will die from the disease.

About Valvular Heart Disease

Valvular Heart Disease can impact us at any age. Many patients require close observation with echocardiography but once the valve is causing significant symptoms or changes within the heart structure and function, the valve may require intervention. In the past the only option was cardiac surgery. We now have a number of rapidly advancing procedures that permit selected patients to have procedures using minimally invasive approaches.
