BCIS Young Investigator Award 2027

Are you a BCIS member in training, on a fellowship, or in a post-CCT role ahead of a substantive consultant post? If so, we are delighted to invite you to submit your research for the BCIS Young Investigator Award 2027.

This prestigious award recognises outstanding original research by emerging leaders in interventional cardiology. Submissions should reflect work in which the applicant has played a central role, while appropriately acknowledging contributions from supervisors and team members.

Key Information:

  • Who can apply: BCIS members who are in training or in pre-consultant roles (fellowship or locum).
  • What to submit: An abstract showcasing original research where you have had a leading role.
  • BCIS Research Day: The top six applicants will be invited to present their work in person at the BCIS Research Day at the RCP in London on Monday 3 December. The top three will be decided and announced at the Research Day.
  • Final Presentation: The three finalists will present their abstract in the main auditorium of ACI 2027. The winner will be selected by the judging panel and awarded their certificate and prize on Thursday, 21 January 2027, in the main auditorium.

Deadline for submissions: 5:00 PM, Monday 12 October 2026.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS:
Submissions should fit the following criteria:

  • Name of applicant first and in bold, followed by list of co-authors where appropriate
  • Institution
  • All original research, basic or clinical
  • Maximum text of 500 words
  • Up to one table and one figure
  • Headings: Background; Method; Results; Conclusion
  • If including published work, the first publication (e.g. online ahead of print) should have been no earlier than 1st February 2026 (in other words the work can be at any stage of the process from unsubmitted through accepted for publication to recently published)
  • Declaration of funding
