Training and Education Group Member: Member without Portfolio: Trainees Education Programme Assistant

BCIS invites BCIS members to contribute to the Training & Education Group (TEG), supporting the Society’s educational mission, including fellowships, BCIS courses, and ACI sessions, as well as the interventional fellowship programme.

This role focuses on assisting the current Programme Lead, Kalaivani Mahadevan, to organise the educational and programme aspects of the annual Trainees Conference.

Who Can Apply

• Any BCIS member with experience in interventional cardiology education and training
• Demonstrated committee experience, organisational skills and leadership ability

Commitment

• 3-year tenure, starting immediately
• Active participation in TEG activities with the intention to take over as lead for Programme lead in due course

BCIS invites Consultant members to contribute to the Training & Education Group (TEG), supporting the Society’s educational mission, including fellowships, BCIS courses, and ACI sessions, as well as the interventional fellowship programme.

This role focuses on leading the Fellows Editor position, supporting selected fellows with their monthly literature by providing ideas, guidance, proofreading, and mentorship.

• BCIS Consultant members with experience in interventional cardiology education and training
• Demonstrated committee experience, organisational skills, and leadership ability

• 3-year tenure, starting immediately
• Active participation in TEG activities and Fellows Editor oversight

BCIS invites members to express interest in joining the Structural Cardiac Intervention Working Group to help shape the future of structural cardiac care in the UK. The group develops guidelines, research, and position statements, and works to improve quality and equity of services nationwide.

Who Can Apply

• BCIS members not already on a Working Group
• Extensive experience in structural intervention (e.g., transcatheter valves, PFO/LAA occlusion, paravalvular leak closure)
• Specific interest in Congenital Heart Disease
• Committee experience, leadership, and strong organisational skills

Commitment

• 3-year tenure
• Attend at least 2 meetings per year, with possible ad-hoc sessions

We would like to invite expressions of interest from BCIS members keen to have a role in the continued development of our Society by contributing to the work of the AHP Group. 

Allied Health Professional Working Group Member Without Portfolio (x3 positions) 

We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced allied health professionals to join the Group and play a key role in its various activities including organisation of the BCIS AHP Summer Meeting; ACI – AHP sessions. You can find out more details about the Allied Health Professionals Group on the BCIS website where there is a dedicated AHP area. 

The positions are for a 3-year term. 

Person Specification 

Qualifications: Relevant professional qualification for discipline. 

Experience: Relevant experience in interventional cardiology practice. As a guide, indicative experience of eight years post qualification with at least five years working within interventional cardiology desirable. Minimum of two years at senior level. 

Other: an interest in teaching and education is essential with an expected commitment to take part in sessions during the AHP Summer meeting and ACI. Experience of delivering talks / leading teaching sessions is desirable. Must be an allied health professional and BCIS member. 

As a member of the Working Group, you are expected to prioritise attendance at all scheduled meetings. The group holds a minimum of two meetings per year, with the possibility of additional meetings being held on an ad-hoc basis. You will be notified of upcoming meetings with sufficient notice. We ask that you take this into consideration when applying for any Working Group roles.  

Application 

Application is by self-nomination, with reference to the person specification above. A supporting statement from the candidate, no more than 500 words  which specifically addresses their suitability for the role must accompany self-nomination in order for the application to be valid. 

These applications will be scored by a panel consisting of the AHP Lead, together with other members of BCIS Council and Working Group. The successful candidates will be chosen based upon the best scores.
