urgent – BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CYBER ATTACK

BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CYBER ATTACK

You may already be aware that Boston Scientific has been subject to a major cyber attack. All units have been contacted directly by Boston Scientific.

The principal consequence of this for the interventional cardiology community is in relation to access to Boston Scientific products.

Following discussion with NHS England and NHS Supply Chain, it is our understanding that NO Boston Scientific products are available for order or delivery. The time-frame for this interruption in supply is unknown, but it is reasonable for members to assume that there will be ongoing disruption to the supply chain lasting days, or more probably weeks.

Members are advised to seek alternative suppliers for all Boston Scientific products, including diagnostic and coronary catheters, balloons and stents, indeflators, IVUS catheters, and dedicated pre-shaped guidewires for structural intervention.

We would expect most centres to have access to alternative products in each of these areas, with the likely exception of IVUS catheters. Where Boston products are used, centres should endeavour to use existing supplies sparingly in order to preserve stocks.
BCIS is monitoring this situation closely, and is in ongoing communication with NHS England and NHS Supply Chain.
