BCIS Education Forum: Expression of Interest for Speakers and Supervisors

The British Cardiovascular Intervention Society Educational Forum has been running successfully for almost four years, attracting excellent attendance through both live streaming and on-demand viewing. The programme is aligned with the JRCPTB Higher Specialist Training Curriculum in Interventional Cardiology and continues to provide high-quality educational content for BCIS members.

We are now inviting expressions of interest from Trainee Speakers and Consultant Supervisors for sessions taking place between October 2026 and March 2027.

Sessions are held on the second Tuesday of each month, begin at 19:00, and last for one hour in total. We welcome enthusiastic contributors who would like to support the continued delivery of this successful educational programme.

Please submit your expression of interest and a 500 word personal statement including current training grade via the form below by Friday 3 July.

BCIS INTERVENTIONAL TRAINEES Conference 2026: BEST TRAINEE CASE COMPETITION

We are delighted to encourage trainees to submit their most educational coronary complication case for an opportunity to present at the BCIS Trainees Course. The top 3 short-listed cases will be presented with an award for the winning case.
The trainee has to have been involved scrubbed as an operator and ideally should have undertaken a reasonable amount of the case as first operator for the case to be submitted.

 

A formal scoring system will be used based on:

  • Educational value and lessons learned
  • Case complexity and demonstration of a structured stepwise management approach
  • Quality of presentation and Q+A interaction with the panel and audience

 

Technical guidelines for submitting a clinical case:

  • Only .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx formats are accepted.
  • Maximum of 12 slides including a concise case summary.
  • Final summary slide of key learning points to highlight educational value.
  • The trainee will have been significantly involved in the case.
  • A cover note (email) from the supervising/responsible consultant clarifying the trainees role/involvement and authorising submission is required.
  • One case per applicant only.

We are delighted to encourage trainees to submit their most instructive clinical PCI case for an opportunity to present at the BCIS Interventional Trainees Course.

A shortlist of the three best cases will be presented during the meeting and will be subject to open discussion and critique. An award will be given to the best case.

A formal scoring system will be used based on:

• Educational value
• Complexity of case
• Quality of presentation and interaction with the audience and panel.

Technical guidelines for submitting a clinical case:

• Only .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx formats are accepted.
• Your presentation must not exceed 10 slides and should include a concise summary of the case.
• A final summary slide of the dominant learning points will be used to assess the educational value.
• It is expected that the trainee will have been significantly involved in the case.
• A cover note (email) from the copying consultant responsible for the case is required to authorise a submission.
• One case per applicant only.

The sessions address the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) higher specialist interventional cardiology curriculum.

We are now looking for expressions of interest (by means of reply email BCIS@millbrookconferences.co.uk) for more trainee speakers (June 2023 onwards) to continue delivering high-quality sessions for all BCIS members to enjoy.
