BCIS Research Day 2025 | 2 December 2025 | Park Plaza, Leeds

This year’s BCIS Research Day will showcase the very best of UK interventional cardiology research led by UK Investigators; registry based research; presentation from our young investigators; updates from the BCIS research working groups; presentation from funders.

Here’s what you can expect:

· BCIS R&D group comprises of two research groups: Coronary Artery Disease working group and Structural working group. Each of the working group leads will present on activities within their working groups with an opportunity to hear how BCIS members can be involved.

· We will hear from the lead investigators of major UK-led studies and also registry leads.

· We also want to recognise our future leaders by showcasing our BCIS young colleagues’ research submitted for the prestigious BCIS Young Investigator Award.

· We will also hear from our major funders on the various research grant awards and opportunities that BCIS members could apply to lead on the next big clinical trial in interventional cardiology.

· There will also be the opportunity to hear what it takes to be an investigator and how clinicians can get involved in research?

  • To give an overview of current evidence for transcatheter interventions in structural heart disease
  • To provide didactic and case-based learning on patient and device selection, procedural techniques, complication management
  • To provide career guidance for research and fellowship applications for trainees planning a career in structural intervention

The meeting is aimed at UK cardiology trainees undertaking training in coronary/structural intervention (ST5 and above)

Proudly hosted by the East Midlands Cardiology Group (UHL, NUH, and UHDB), this two-day educational event is tailored exclusively for BCIS Trainee Members.

This immersive course offers a dynamic mix of lecture presentations, hands-on simulation, and live case demonstrations, with dedicated time for interaction and networking. Key clinical themes will include ACS, PCI, Structural Intervention, and Angio Review Complications Cases, ensuring both fundamental and advanced topics are thoroughly covered.

This is the third research webinar brought to you by the BCIS Research and Development working group, led by Prof. Vijay Kunadian.

BHF PROTECT-TAVI is a UK-based randomised controlled trial designed to evaluate whether using a CEP device during TAVI can lower the risk of stroke in patients. The study aims to enrol 7,730 participants.

BCIS presents the second in a series of webinars by the Research and Development Working Group.

Focussing on the NOTION-3 Trial, the webinar will be led by Prof. Vijay Kunadian, R&D Group Lead. Joining Vijay is principal investigator for the trial, Professor Jacob Lonborg of Rigshospitalet and Copenhagen University Hospital. Additional panellists are to be announced soon.

Expect a 15-20 minute presentation from Prof. Kunadian, a 10-minute presentation from Dr Lonborg and an interactive panel discussion and live audience Q&A.
