BCIS trainees from across the country flocked to the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel on Monday, June 27 for our Coronary Interventional Trainees course, which explored intra-coronary imaging, bifurcation PCI and how to deal with calcification.

The meeting consisted of short lectures, case-based learning from consultant faculty and trainees, a debate on whether it is necessary to use these tools in left main PCI and simulators to highlight practical considerations.

The main learning objectives were:

  • To understand how and why systematic intra-coronary imaged guided PCI will often improve durability and outcome compared to angiographic only PCI
  • To learn how to safely perform both provisional MV only therapy and MV and SB treatment strategies during bifurcation PCI
  • To familiarise you with the options for calcification modification
