BCIS Research & Development Webinar: BHF PRoTECT-TAVI

BCIS Research Webinar — BHF PROTECT-TAVI

Tuesday 22 April 2025

This is the third research webinar brought to you by the BCIS Research and Development working group.

BHF PROTECT-TAVI is a UK-based randomised controlled trial designed to evaluate whether using a CEP device during TAVI can lower the risk of stroke in patients. The study aims to enrol 7,730 participants.

Patients undergoing TAVI who agree to join the trial will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: the control group, where the procedure is performed as usual, or the intervention group, where TAVI is performed with the CEP device. This allows researchers to determine whether the CEP device effectively reduces the risk of stroke. The findings will help guide future treatment decisions. Both groups play a crucial role in the study.

So far, 4,200 participants have been recruited from 31 of the 33 TAVI centres across the UK. Recruitment will continue until April 2025.
