Dr Achan was trained at Oxford University and was a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University from 1999 to 2001. He became an NHS consultant at Frimley Park Hospital in 2007 where he helped to set up the 24/7 primary angioplasty service for heart attack patients in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.
