Calls for Expressions of Interest for the Role of BCIS Honorary Secretary

On behalf of BCIS council, I would like to invite applications for the position of Honorary Secretary. This is a key role with responsibility for the running of the society. The post-holder will work closely with the President and Treasurer and will be an ex-Officio member of all the BCIS Working Groups. As one of the three officers of BCIS, the successful applicant will be integral to the workings and major decisions that are taken on behalf of the Society.

The position becomes vacant from January 2026 when the current incumbent Dr Gerald Clesham completes his term. There will be a short run-in period to allow the successful candidate to familiarise themselves with the role.

Any current or previous BCIS council member is eligible to apply and there will be an election if there are two or more applicants. A job description is attached below with more details of the responsibilities of the post. Applications should include a brief supporting statement indicating relevant experience and potential ideas. The closing date for applications is Monday 20 October 2025 at 5pm.
