WORKING GROUP POSITIONS 2024

Dear BCIS member,

We would like to invite expressions of interest from current BCIS members keen to have a role in the continued development of our Society by contributing to the work of the BCIS Working Groups. You will be able to find below details from all Working Groups which have vacancies.

The deadline for all positions is 14th June 2024 at 5pm. 

 

Research and Development Working Group Members (x4 posts):

The Research and Development Group is responsible for coordinating Research and Development activities within the Society. These activities include the BCIS literature review service, development of new research ideas from members and the BCIS Young Investigator Award.

Allied Health Professional Working Group (x1post)

We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced allied health professional to join the Group and play a key role in its various activities including organisation of the BCIS AHP Summer Meeting; ACI – AHP sessions. You can find out more details about the Allied Health Professionals Group on the BCIS website where there is a dedicated AHP area.

Training and Education Working Group (x1 Post)

The Training and Education Group (TEG) is responsible for coordinating all T&E activities within the Society. These activities include provision of a wide range of educational events for its members, including fellowships, BCIS courses & sessions at ACI. The group is also central to the support of the BCIS interventional fellowship programme.

Structural Cardiac Intervention Working Group (x2 Posts)

Expressions of interest are invited for 2 positions on the BCIS Structural Cardiac Intervention Group which will be available from August 1st 2024 when the current incumbents Suneil Aggarwal and Mike Mullen reach the end of their terms. These posts will be for a 3-year term. If there are more than 2 applicants, candidates will be selected by an appointment committee led by Structural Heart Group Chair Professor Dan Blackman.

Clinical Standards Working Group (x2 Posts)

Clinical Standards Group work includes: development and/or review of BCIS guidance and statements on clinical practice, co-ordination of the BCIS peer review programme, communication with NICE, MHRA, and other national bodies relevant to clinical standards. This includes the co-ordination of BCIS responses to published guidance and statements from such national bodies, and specialist input to the Royal College of Physicians. The group lead is Helen Routledge to whom the member would have direct responsibility.

BCIS Officer’s Upcoming Position:

Advance notice of BCIS treasurer post

The BCIS treasurer is a key officer of the society and a senior member of the council. This post will become available in January 2025 when Dr Dan McKenzie completes his three year term.

The post will be formally advertised in September 2024 with an election planned for October. This will allow a three month run in period for the appointee to work with Dan prior to taking over.
