BCS 2017 Elections. Nominations are open, come and join the team!

The British Cardiovascular Society is seeking nominations for 11 elected positions on the Executive, Council and Committees. These roles are open to nominations from both junior and senior colleagues who can bring energy to the BCS as it moves forward.
The roles each bring with them unique opportunities to offer ideas to the continually evolving BCS Annual Conference; show an interest in clinical standards and guidelines; learn about charity legislation and governance; establish a cardiovascular research network; and deliver strategies and undertake projects on behalf of BCS.
The roles are as follows:
- President Elect
- Vice President, Corporate Finance & Development Elect
- Without portfolio
- Council DGH rep (2 posts)
- Council women in cardiology
- Guidelines and Practice
- Clinical Standards
- Academic and Research
The requirements for the positions are outlined in the role descriptions. Positions on council and committees are open to all ordinary members of the Society. Please note that (i) application for multiple positions is discouraged and (ii) regular attendance (>75%) at meetings is expected for all of these roles.

All nominees must complete an online nomination form by 23:59 hours on Sunday 19 March 2017. Nominees are asked to provide a brief personal statement on their career and aspirations for the Society. The nomination form must also include the names and email addresses of 2 ordinary members of the Society who propose and second the nominee.
Nominees will be asked to complete Equal Opportunities and Declaration of Interests forms in due course.

An online ballot will take place during April 2017 and an email outlining the voting process will be sent to all members. Nominees will be informed of the result of the ballot during May 2017 and the full election results will be announced at the Annual General Meeting in June 2017.
