Summary

Keith Oldroyd presents the results of the landmark trial SYNTAX (The Synergy between Percutaneous Coronary Intervention with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery Synergy. This was a robust prospective  randomised controlled multicenter trial that compared CABG vs PCI in patients with multivessel disease and/or Left main disease who were eligible for both CABG and PCI. This study also expounded the concept of heart team for managing unprotected left main or multi vessel disease and use of the SYNTAX score to assess the complexity of coronary lesion.
