Summary

Outcomes for NSTEMI in the UK over the last decade are discussed from BCIS Audit/MINAP data. Access to cardiology services has improved, with increasing use of angiography (up from 35% to 64% of patients from 2003/4 to 2009/10) and an associated decrease in 30-day mortality. Dr Henderson suggests there is still much work to do, particularly regarding risk stratification and delays to angiography +/- PCI, which remain at 83 hours overall (59 hours and 107 hours in PCI and non-PCI centres, respectively).
